| Accupuncture is being increasingly validated as a genuine form of
treatment by doctors in the west. The practice of accupuncture is actually
thousands of years old and has its roots in China. While it has been seen
that acupuncture has been helpful in treating a variety of health problems,
recent research has shown that it is also beneficial to somebody
experiencing infertility issues. By itself, accupuncture can be heralded as an alternative treatment for fertility problems. It is also seen as a complementary therapy to modern fertility treatments which can go on concurrently. When used alone, though, acupuncture is probably most effective for those couples who are experiencing a functional problem, like irregular ovulation, rather than a medical problem, like a blockage in the sperm ducts. Apart from performing accupuncture on specific pressure points and massage, some acupuncturists will also prescribe Chinese herbs for infertility that couples can have along with the acupuncture sessions and any other treatment you might be getting. Ensure that you inform your doctor if you are having herbs while receiving other medical treatment. This is a precaution as some herbs can interfere with the function of fertility drugs and procedures. How accupuncture works for infertility problems is still a hotly debated issue. Most acupuncturists claim that acupuncture aids by regulating our body’s system. This helps in regulating the flow of blood to our reproductive organs and balances hormone levels. This in turn will increase ovarian function in women as well as sperm production in men. Specifically, research has shown that accupuncture definitely improves the rate of pregnancy in women who have undergone vitro fertilization (IVF).
