  Chinese Accupuncture and Moxibustion

To bring harmony within the energy vortex of our body, we can use Accupuncture to heal and nurture ourselves. Tiny needles which have been sterilized and then inserted into our body at specific Acupuncture pressure points act as catalysts in getting our body’s energy flow back into balance, thus restoring our health into optimal shape.

Acupuncture can also be used together with heat produced by burning some particular Chineese herbs. This is called Moxibustion. In addition to these, a method of massage therapy, which does not pierce the skin called Acupressure, can also be used.

Moxibustion is a popular form of treatment in which the treatment of diseases is done by giving heat to Accupuncture points or areas near them. Acupuncture and Moxibustion are considered complimentary forms of treatment, and are commonly used together. Moxibustion is used for ailments such as bronchial asthma, bronchitis, certain types of paralysis, and arthritic disorders.

The history of Moxibustion as very ancient. Treatment with bian stone needles first came around in the east coast of China where the inhabitants were basically fishermen, and moxibustion was originated in the north where people lived on animal husbandry. Because of the cold and windy weather in the northern areas, people used to keep themselves warm by fire. They lived in camps and survived on milk. They suffered from abdominal pain and bone related issues regularly due to the cold, and had to be treated by heat. Over many centuries and with experience, Moxibustion therapy and hot compression were created as a result of this.
