The acupuncturist invigorates traditional acupuncture points in the body
using a laser point. This helps by release blocks along the pressure point
meridians as well as decrease inflammation or reactions. It can also be used
to introduce a particular remedy or color to any organ or system.
There are no particular, bookish treatment recipes available with low-level
laser accupuncture, just like there are no specific, bookish treatment
methods with normal needle acupuncture. The acupuncturist needs an in-depth
knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and has to understand the correct
use of accupuncture points, to be a successful practitioner with laser
acupuncture.
Generally, it is not recommended to practice only with laser accupuncture.
It is better to add it to the collection of acupuncture modalities like
accupuncture needles, microamps electrical stimulation, moxibustion,
cupping, Chinese herbal medicine, etc. It is now essential to have a minimum
of 1,725 hours of acupuncture training in the US, before you can take a
certification in accupuncture from the National Certification Commission for
Accupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
The area of low-level laser acupuncture is difficult. Sadly, there is no
single laser that will do everything. Different lasers are required for
different parts. There can be side effects also. Laser accupuncture research
with carpal tunnel syndrome is currently being conducted, and also with
stroke patients with paralysis. More research is still needed.
